TORNADO TOUCHES DOWN | Naperville, Woodridge Among Communities Hit Hard Sunday Night

MAJOR NEWS NETWORKS REPORT ON LOCAL DESTRUCTION, REDCROSS RECEPTION AREA SET UP
DUPAGE COUNTY–Countless area residents are dealing with the aftermath of a powerful tornado that touched down in Woodridge, Naperville and other surrounding areas on Sunday evening. As the streets remain covered with fallen debris, major news networks are on the scene in badly effected area neighborhoods, as they continue to report on the destruction left behind.
The Village of Woodridge reported damage to many area structures and is assisting those affected by the tornado while assessing the damage. As of early Monday morning, there were no reports of significant injuries and as residents take to social media, many are seeing widespread damage. Pictured above is a home in Woodridge that was destroyed Monday night as NBC-Chicago covers the story.
The City of Naperville reported early Monday morning that sixteen houses have been deemed uninhabitable by the City’s Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) Business Group, as TED inspectors will continue to inspect property damage this morning. As of 5 a.m., the City had received 125 reports of property damage within the tornado area. The above photo shows a home located right next door to another home in Naperville that was completely destroyed.
Ten people from three homes were taken to a relocation point, and the Red Cross and Salvation Army are assisting the displaced families with a reception center located at Napervlle's Ranchview Elementary School located at 1651 Ranchview Drive in Naperville. Impacted residents are encouraged to come to the school for assistance.
