STICKS & STONES | Sales Off the Charts for Young Naperville Entrepreneurs

MEET ABIGAIL AND CHARLOTTE FALLON, CRAFTY NAPERVILLE SISTERS

by Kristen Kucharski

MEET ABIGAIL AND CHARLOTTE FALLON, CRAFTY NAPERVILLE SISTERS

NAPERVILLE–What started as a fun summer craft idea has turned into a full-blown business for Crone Middle School student Abigail Fallon (12) and her sister Charlotte (10) who attends Graham Elementary in Naperville.

They had ordered a garden stake-making kit online, and although they thought the finished product was adorable, the materials were not high quality nor sustainable. This launched their creative energies to improve the design using the finest of products that would hold up to the Midwest elements.

“We fostered their entrepreneurial spirit with an initial investment in inventory, and have been chasing the demand ever since,” says mom Suzanne Fallon. “They had such a strong reaction from friends and neighbors impressed with the product, and sold 200 in the first ten days!”

The success is founded on the art of bead placement, and each stake is unequivocally unique. Abigail is the creative designer and she can tell from across the room that a bead placement or color scheme could use some perfecting. Charlotte selects patterns and colors from her heart and is drawn to more purples, blues, and ambers.

The young ladies have hit it big with their first retail store placement at Oswald’s Pharmacy, which is currently selling the custom garden stakes for $19.99.

Their company, cleverly named Sticks and Stones, will also be highlighted at Arrow Academy’s business fair on July 16, 2022 where young entrepreneurs ages 6-14 years old will pitch their products and services to real people for a real profit while learning the academic and social skills required to successfully run a business.

Sticks and Stones began with a $100 investment from their parents and have continued to purchase inventory to keep up with demand. They hope to donate a portion of their proceeds to Forever Home Dog Rescue in the very near future.

Eventually, Abigail dreams of being an interior designer and Charlotte wants to be a Rockstar, but in the meantime the pair can be found working as mother’s helpers, selling lemonade in their driveway, pet sitting, watering plants, or organizing a garage sale to help fund their goals. They enjoy working together and making decisions about quality, pricing, and efficient assembly.

The garden stakes can be purchased for as low as $12.99 by emailing suzannefallon30@gmail.com.
