INSIDE SANTO CIELO
NAPERVILLE–Santo Cielo translates into “Good Heavens” or “OMG” and OMG this place is heavenly!
Located on the 5th floor of Hotel Indigo, sits this beautiful restaurant with some of the best food and views in downtown Naperville. Twice a year the Bien Trucha Group Culinary Team comes up with some seasonal creations and we were lucky enough to be one of the first to experience them for the Fall/Winter season.
Seated with a perfect view of the sun setting and rum based Espresso Martini’s in hand we were excited for the experience to begin!
Leaning into a “Latino Moderno” aka a contemporary Latin influence, we knew this tasting menu was going to be exceptional and bursting with amazing flavor combinations.
It’s hard to narrow down a favorite from this multi course tasting menu but here are some of the standouts. Beginning with the starters, you must try the Ostones Hornados! These fresh oysters were topped with cream swiss chard and crispy bacon, the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Squeeze some grilled lemon on them for an extra burst of flavor and tanginess. These were followed by the Hamachi Tiradito. A dish consisting of fresh Yellowtail, cucumber, tajin, crispy rice, and a refreshingly smooth sauce.
Our next two favorites were heartier dishes. The Pollo Adobo, a perfectly seasoned free-range chicken on a bed of creamed bacon collard greens, with sides of charred okra and sweet potatoes, every single bite was delectable. This was followed by the Costillas y Gnocci which was the most delicious and tender short rib and
gnocchi we have ever had.
No tasting menu would be complete without dessert. The Lemon Lavendar pound cake was the most delightful creation of lemon curd, buttermilk honey, ice cream and macerated apples.
