WHY WE LOVE OUR SHUCKIN' SHACK OYSTER BAR EXCURSIONS
NAPERVILLE–When the world is your oyster, you tend to live for the finer things in life. Other times you just want to say, “Shuck it” and spend some time at what the Real Housewives of Naperville refer to as “our favorite hidden gem”. Which just so happens to be full of oysters!
Tucked in the plaza with Trader Joes, is the coolest seafood joint we’ve found. While you wouldn’t think of the Midwest as a hub for a hidden gem seafood joint, let us disillusion you! This spot is a MUST-TRY.
A no-frills, all-about-the-seafood dive that even has its very own resident shark swimming above patrons!
Shuckin’ Shack is a casual spot with a coastal vibe and exceptional fare. They have a wide selection of both east and west-coast oysters, never-frozen fish, and all of their fried options are hand-battered, a rare offering these days.
Mondays there are $1.25 oyster specials that have us religiously ordering dozens of trays to slurp. Other favorites include the fish and chips (available daily but on special every Friday), the lobster grilled cheese, the hand-battered fried clams (a summer menu stand-out), and Taco Tuesday (because who doesn’t love a taco?).
And don’t forget to try the seafood boils – A classic! We even tried several of their famous oyster shooters along with some of their adventurous cocktails. And PLEASE order the hush puppies with your meal, you’ll thank us later. If seafood isn’t your thing, don’t worry, they have burgers, black bean burgers and fresh salads.
With its delicious food and amazing staff, you’ll find yourself regularly coming back (just like us!). The vibe here Is perfect for friends, families or even just a chill happy hour at the bar. There are always plenty of people to chat with or just watch a game while enjoying some killer food.
