At Vargo’s Dance in Geneva

GENEVA–There are many famous quotes of couples dancing into each other's hearts with every step; finding love in the rhythm of the dance; and creating their own fairytale with every twirl and dip. Chris and Carmen danced through their 25 years of marriage while Chris worked for a software company in Chicago and Carmen raised their three children. Now that the kids are all in their 20s, Carmen is pursuing her passion as an interior design student, and the couple is taking private dance lessons at Vargo's Dance in Geneva and supporting charitable organizations such as Casa Kane County and Kayla’s Hope.

How did you meet?
On the dance floor at a club in North Pier in Chicago, so I guess dance has always been a part of our journey
Where did you get married?
Old Town Chapel in Bloomingdale
Where did you honeymoon?
Cancun
If you could sum up your love story in two sentences - what would you say about your journey together?
Our love continues to age like fine wine, growing richer and more complex with each passing year. Through life's ups and downs, we remain each other's rock, our bond unbreakable and enduring.

How long have you been dancing together?
We started taking dance classes three years ago when our daughter left for college.
Where do you dance?
Vargo’s Dance Studio in Geneva. We also dance socially throughout Chicagoland several times per month. Some of our favorite venues are Epiphany Center for the performing arts in Chicago for swing dancing, and Johnny Cabs in Burr Ridge and Bar Louie in Oak Brook for salsa.
How often do you dance?
We take 5- 6 classes per week as well as private lessons.
What is your favorite style of dance?
Salsa and Swing Dancing
Do you dance and go home or is it a social activity - dance with groups and go out with friends afterwards?
For us dance is definitely a social activity. We enjoy not only the great group of friends we have met locally through our studio and the broader dance community, but we also find social dance opportunities every time we travel and have met wonderful people from London to Mexico City.
