This Beautiful Local Couple Chose The Abbington for their Beautiful Celebration, Here’s What they Loved

LISLE/GLEN ELLYN–Born and raised in Naperville, and a graduate of Naperville Central High School, Lucas Fabbri went on to become a Project Engineer for Aptiv PLC. After being introduced to Lisa Higgins, a Chicago resident and Pediatric Nurse at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, he treated her to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. The date was a grand slam and the pair courted for the next five years, hitting it out of the ballpark with a proposal at the Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar in Barcelona, Spain.

Lucas and Lisa selected the recently renovated Abbington Distinctive Banquets in Glen Ellyn as the backdrop for their wedding. The attentive staff took care of every detail including staging the outdoor patio area for photography, hosting the ceremony on site, and creating a delicious candy bar, espresso bar, martini bar, and detailed sweets table.

“Since our two large German shepherds could not attend our wedding, we decided to bring them in other little ways,” Lisa adds. “We had cocktail napkins with their faces on it, as well as little German shepherd dog figures on our wedding cake pretending to take a bite out of it; but, the best surprise was Luke getting his tux custom made with our dogs’ (Lincoln & Lala) faces inside it!”

Building their new life together in Lisle, the newlyweds believe the secret to a successful marriage is to marry your best friend and continuously be open, honest, and communicate everything!
