WESTERN SPRINGS–When Taylor Tomlinson set out on a family vacation to Northern Michigan, she never expected to find inspiration for a book series that would celebrate the unique charm of Chicago’s suburbs. But that’s exactly what happened. Her debut book, Goodnight, Western Springs, was born out of a desire to help her young son connect with the places he knows and loves in their hometown.

Drawing on the vibrant character of Western Springs, Illinois, Taylor’s Goodnight Series creates a bedtime adventure for young readers. The book features beloved local landmarks such as the Thomas Ford Library and Spring Rock Park, skillfully blending nostalgia and community pride. Taylor describes her mission as bringing the beauty and personality of the western suburbs to life through her books while fostering curiosity and connection among young readers.

For Taylor, the writing process was both joyful and challenging. Crafting a rhythmic flow that resonates with children was a balancing act, but her passion for storytelling and her family’s unwavering support kept her going.
