Grandma Janie and Me: In the Garden
Growing up in Aurora, author Crystal Hilliard was raised by a single mother and spent a great amount of time with her grandmother who watched her. The many memories they shared will be etched in her brain forever and inspired her to begin writing her first book in her Grandma Janie and Me series, Grandma Janie and Me: In the Garden.
“I want young children and older adults to know the importance of their role in a child’s life,” says Crystal. “Children need to know about their past, and grandparents need to understand the present and changing times.”
As a licensed social worker with a specialization in gerontology (the study of the aging process), Crystal has a passion for the older adult population. Grandma Janie and Me: In the Garden is about a loving relationship between a grandparent and a grandchild and the memories they share. Keep an eye out for Crystal’s future books telling the stories of the different adventures Grandma Janie and her granddaughter will experience together.
