The Sugar Grove Public Library District is thrilled to announce expanded opening hours beginning this summer!
As of Friday, July 12, 2024, the Library’s expanded hours will be:
2-6pm Sundays
9am-8pm Monday-Thursdays
9am to 6pm Fridays
10am-4pm Saturdays
On Friday, July 12, the Library will hold a Grand Re-Opening Celebration with live music and activities for all ages to showcase the expanded hours and some of the other improvements made thanks to an increase in the Library’s operating funds in July 2024. Voters approved the increase in operational funding in April 2023.
The new schedule represents a 26% increase in Library operating hours.
The schedule expansion is a reflection of feedback from a recent Library survey.
Parents and caregivers are interested in a 9am start time to better coincide with childcare schedules and school pickups.
Patrons are overwhelmingly eager for Friday hours to stock up on materials for the weekend or just enjoy their day off.
The Library staff and board hope that the increase in hours will provide the community with more opportunities to explore the wealth of resources, connect with neighbors, and learn something new.
"We are thrilled to extend our hours and we are so grateful to our community supporters for voting yes to make this change happen," said Genna Mickey, the library's director. "Our goal is to be a friendly neighborhood library that is responsive to our community’s needs. Libraries are a collaborative space, and we build our services around the needs of our patrons.”
The extended hours will provide more flexibility for visitors to engage in a variety of activities, including borrowing books, attending events, conducting research, and accessing educational materials. With a diverse collection of books and digital resources, the library is a hub for learning and enrichment for individuals of all ages. The library staff is excited to welcome patrons, both new and returning, to experience all that the expanded hours have to offer.
