CANDLEBOX IS COMING TO WHEATON AS SATURDAY NIGHT ROCK HEADLINER
Legendary Seattle-based rock band, Candlebox, will open for Ribfest’s Saturday night rock headliner, Halestorm, at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL on Saturday, June 18, 2022. “When we announced Halestorm a couple of weeks ago, we promised a hard rockin’ Saturday night show and Candlebox is the perfect band to support the show,” said Bev Schafman, chair for 2022 Ribfest. “I can’t think of a better band to open the night. We’re so excited that they are going to be with us and light up the evening.”
The event is promoted by the Illinois Department of Transportation’s It’s Not a Game campaign encouraging safe, responsible driving. Ribfest from the Exchange Club of Naperville is returning after a two-year hiatus due to COVID 19 cancellations.
About Candlebox
Candlebox brings over 30 years of solid roots in alternative rock music that began in Seattle in the 90’s with the infamous grunge music scene. Long associated with grunge music bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarten et al., Candlebox brings a more diverse array of influences to their current alternative rock repertoire. Critics noted that the band’s latest album, Wolves, released in 2021 has strong references to blues, pop-rock, grunge, and hard rock. Led by lead singer Kevin Martin, they are currently touring the U.S. on a 20-city tour, playing numerous festivals and outdoor facilities. They have seven studio albums, a couple of live albums, several gold records, and numerous video’s to their credit. It is reported that a feature documentary about Candlebox produced by Warner Music Entertainment will be released in the fall under the auspices of their recording company, Maverick Records.
