A SHARED LOVE FOR BBQ
CLARENDON HILLS–Greg and Tiffany Pickens met 14 years ago in Austin, Texas. Over the past decade, they relocated six times due to Greg’s job, and in each city, they liked to wow their neighbors with their authentic Texas barbeque meats. After an unexpected round of layoffs at his last place of employment, they decided it was time to set out and create Greg’s lifelong dream of a business in barbeque.
Last year, they opened up their catering business, Pickens Place Smokehouse. Greg uses the smoker in the backyard to cook his meats, and Tiffany makes a variety of sides to sell with them.
For Tiffany, she admires in Greg, “his ability to be exactly who he wants to be,” and Greg loves Tiffany’s passion in everything she does, especially new ventures. A great combination of traits to make their dreams a reality. Their next big plan is to open a restaurant in the local area.
