ARTIST JOE RIZZO'S WORK IS PART OF THE NATURE ARTIST'S GUILD EXHIBIT

One of the artists in the Naperville Park District’s Drop-In Painting Group, Joe Rizzo, will exhibit his watercolor, “Impressions of Zion 1: The Virgin River,” at The Nature Artists’ Guild’s 2018 Holiday (Autumn) Exhibit of Natural History Art Nov. 2-4 at the Morton Arboretum.

The exhibit opens with an artists’ reception Friday evening, Nov. 2 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. for friends and family members of the artists and members of the Morton Arboretum. Public exhibit hours are 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4 for visitors with paid admission to the Morton Arboretum, located at 4100 Route 53 in Lisle. The exhibit is in the Cudahy Room at the Administration Building.

Joe Rizzo explained that his piece is a triptych in a modified pointillism style based on a photo which he altered using interpretive software. The photo depicts a river in Zion National Park in Utah, a place he has visited often.

Rizzo is one of several artists in the Naperville Park District’s Tuesday morning drop-in workshop who have exhibited their work in local art shows. They work alongside each other in a classroom at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center and share not only new techniques and ideas but friendship and support. Some of the group participants started with an art class more than 30 years ago and continue meeting together to work on their latest pieces.

The Park District’s Drop-In Painting Group is one of the ongoing programs for those 50 and over at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center and is always open to new participants. More

information and photos of the artwork by members of the group are available in a ParkTalk blog post at https://www.napervilleparks.org/news/parktalkblog.
