VINTAGE RIDES CARE SHOW | New Location for Popular Wheaton Event

  • May 16, 2018
  • 2 min read

HELD MAY 18 THROUGH AUGUST 31
The Downtown Wheaton Association is gearing up for a summer full of Vintage Rides car shows, which will take place on Friday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., May 18 through August 31. Like in previous years, this car show in historic Downtown Wheaton will feature all makes of cars from Model T’s to Teslas and everything in between.
Due to the improvements taking place on Front Street this summer, the event will move south of the train tracks to Hale Street, between Liberty and Willow. Space for cars will be limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The street will be closed at 5 p.m. to allow classic cars to arrive and park, and the show officially begins at 6 p.m. This move is temporary for the 2018 summer only, but it provides a fresh, new venue for this family-favorite event.
The Wheaton Police Department asks for your cooperation in not moving barricades during these events to ensure the safety of Vintage Rides participants and pedestrians.
Spectators will admire classic cars, motorcycles and trucks of many makes, models and years. Some of the downtown restaurants will be at the show selling tasty treats for visitors’ refreshment, and there will be a DJ spinning tunes. Restrooms also will be provided for visitors’ convenience.
The event will have a different theme each week, including:
  • May 18: Welcome Back Night

  • May 25: Piano Night: Billy Joel & Elton John

  • June 1 & 2: Easy & Mix*

  • June 8: Country

  • June 15: Movie Themes

  • June 22: 70’s Corvette

  • June 29: 80’s & 90’s

  • July 6: Country

  • July 13: Tom Jones & Tommy and the Shondells

  • July 20: Smooth/Summer

  • July 27: Kenny Rodgers

  • August 3: R&B

  • August 10: Country

  • August 17: Disco

  • August 24: Southern Rock

  • August 31: Last Night Blow Out

*Note that June 1 and 2 are relocated to North Hale Street between Front and Wesley streets to accommodate the Taste of Wheaton carnival. Reservations to exhibit your car must be made for this night by calling the DWA at 630-682-0633.
