Many times, it is a flawless-skinned celebrity that promote the benefits, hoping to entice you to try their product.

Samantha Dench, a 13-year licensed esthetician and spa owner of Skin Deep in Elmhurst, spends a lot of time with each of her clients educating them on skin and how to take care of it at home. She grew tired of the overload of misinformation that is being sent out to the public, so she decided to write a book, Skin Deep: Demystifying Skin Care Solutions to Achieve Healthy, Glowing Skin.

The book is designed to be an educational tool for consumers to help them break through the clutter of past skin care concepts and understand their skin, how it functions and how to care for it. Samantha explains why each step of your routine is so important, but also has a section about internal wellness and how what we put into our bodies affects the skin. “I spent weeks researching the ingredient section,” says Samantha. “I wanted to know the truth about certain ingredients and their function and what products to avoid.” Lastly, she discusses the importance of having an esthetician in your life and why that is so vital for your skin.

Seven years ago, when she opened her own business, she began writing newsletters and blogging for her clients about the benefits of skin care.
