December is such a busy month with lots of gatherings of family, friends and food! My sister and I have always loved grocery stores and what better place than Standard Market. Celebrating five years and locations in Westmont and Naperville they know how to celebrate food! Standard Market is not your ordinary grocery store. So what makes them different? From first entering the Westmont location I was greeted with a friendly smile by Michael in produce. Did you know you can ask to sample any produce? They are committed to sourcing products from the Chicagoland area and Midwestern producers and growers. They have a bakery, butcher, offer catering, wine tastings and even have a cheese aging cave. Standard Market provides quality ingredients for all your treasured recipes.
Holiday shopping and parties can keep everyone from having time to prepare meals. Standard Market has the solution for that. Grab a meal to go. Offering a weekly menu their What’s For Dinner Tonight dinner to go includes all you need and heating instructions. We enjoyed the pork schnitzel with buttered mushroom noodles a salad and blueberry pie. Another great idea is the crock pot stew kit containing seasoned beef, vegetables; simply open, place in crock pot and enjoy. If you have a little more time and enjoy preparing your own meal try the Let’s Make a Meal kit. Tucked inside a bag you will find a picture recipe card with step by step instructions to make a restaurant quality meal. Pasta lovers they have just the section for you. Pick one of the many homemade types of pasta, pair it with a signature sauce add some warm bread and a fresh salad for a complete family meal.
If you don’t feel up to prepping, cooking or cleaning why not enjoy a bite at one of Standard Market’s eateries. We were delighted by Standard Tacos and Margaritas at the Westmont location. Chef Alexander Ayala has always found himself “in a kitchen dancing on the line”. So it’s no surprise that he adds a little pizazz to his chipotle chimichurri chicken tacos.
