SUMMER FUN
Well, summer is finally here and if you’re family is anything like mine, you’ve been waiting a long time for it’s arrival. Now that the kids are out of school and the days are getting longer, there are so many fun things to do together. From packing your calendar with festival favorites to lounging with your Glancer Magazine poolside– you and yours won’t get bored if you reside within Chicago’s western suburbs, that’s for sure.
Some of our festival favorites include Naperville’s Ribfest (www.ribfest.net) and Eyes to Skies Fest in Lisle (www.eyestotheskies.org), which both take place over 4th of July weekend. Ribfest has some fabulous musical entertainment this year including Sheryl Crow, Lee Brice and Gin Blossoms. Eyes to the Skies will be featuring some amazing musical acts as well, but my favorite attention grabber at this event is no doubt the hot air balloons that launch throughout the 3-day festival. They are simply breathtaking!
Having grown up in Lisle, the 4th of July was always my favorite weekend of the year! Kicking it off with the parade where I marched proudly with my softball team, then some swim time with friends at Lisle Pool (now Sea Lion Aquatic Park), finishing it off with family as we watched the fireworks on the hill at Lisle Fest. So many memories!
Another family favorite of ours is the Sugar Grove Corn Boil taking place July 28-31. Filled with all things fun including food vendors, musical entertainment, a carnival and more, area families will love that this festival has free entry + free entertainment.
Other great events happening this summer include Taste of Wheaton, June 2-5; Swedish Days in Geneva, June 21-26; Rotary Grove Fest in Downers Grove, June 23-26; Glancer Magazine’s Splash of Color Annual Celebration, July 13; Jazz In Glen Ellyn, July 16; Naperville Woman’s Club 57th Annual Fine Art Fair, July 9 & 10 and many more!
