February 2010 - FLIPPING FLOPPING FUN

Where can you go with the entire family and spend only $12 for two hours of fun and excitement? You are probably saying to Blockbuster and back home. I didn’t say sit on the couch and watch a movie; I did say fun and excitement.

For only $12 for the entire family, whether you are a resident or non-resident, you can go to the Oswego Park District and do gymnastics with the entire family. Most area open gymnastics will cost you anywhere from $7-$10/person, so a family of four could cost $40 for two hours. Not at Oswegoland! They also offer hour long open gyms in the summer for $5 for the entire family. This is the only facility in the area (that I know of) that also allows the adults to play on the equipment too. All ages welcome!

When you first pull up to the building, you can’t imagine that a huge gymnastic facility could possibly be inside. They have a spring floor, trampolines, uneven bars, balance beams, rings, vaults, parallel bars, vaults, running tramps, multiple mats for obstacle courses, foam pits, preschool equipment, climbing ropes, and help from coaches. I personally felt very cool doing back flips like I was in high school again – don’t ask me how I felt the next day though! This was indeed fun for the whole family. The kids enjoyed everything about the gym and so did I. The park district does limit the amount of people who can enter the gym during one session, so it is first come, first serve. Since there is no overcrowding, it is very pleasant.

The Oswegoland Open Gymnastics is located within the park district building at the Boulder Point, 0 Boulder Hill Pass in Montgomery (corner of Boulder Hill Pass and Rt. 25). Phone number is 630-554-1010. Website is www.oswegolandparkdistrict.org. The fee is $12/resident or non-resident, for the entire family. The hours vary for open gyms as they offer many different types of opportunities; checkout the website for details.
