WELL-LOVED COMMUNITY PHARMACIST NAMED 'BEST PHARMACY MENTOR'

NAPERVILLE–There’s a reason that patients love Naperville resident Digvijay Raol, Pharm.D., the pharmacy manager at Walgreens #4874 in La Grange Highlands, Illinois. Regardless of how busy he is, Dr. Raol—known as V.J.—ensures his customers’ needs are met, whether they’re regular patients of his or not.

His dedication to patient care is what led him to receive customer nominations in the 2022 Best of the Best Pharmacy Awards by SingleCare, but it’s his focus on leading the next generation that led him to be named Best Pharmacy Mentor.

Loyal, empathetic and hardworking are the qualities he brings every day to assisting patients, mentoring students, and being fully present for his wife and two young kids.

“Pharmacists have a unique opportunity to build long-term relationships with their patients,” he says. “You have to be caring and a good listener. A lot of times, people are frustrated or they’re sick and just don’t have anyone at home.”

He stays involved with the community as a preceptor for Midwestern College of Pharmacy and UIC College of Pharmacy, as well as by administering immunizations at local companies, churches and schools, such as the teachers of Chicago public schools and Brookfield Zoo employees.
