With Autumn comes frightful nights filled with creature delights, ghoulish graveyards and terrorizing frights. This month's 10 Trends highlight the best of the best in the west suburban area and beyond, sure to give you the scares you dare to crave this Halloween season.


#1 | A Nightmare at West Main

BATAVIA • FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2020 AT 7 PM – 9 PM

The ghosts are coming out to play in the forest at West Main Community Park. Join us for a haunted hike through our spooky trails. Evil lurks in the forest, so enter if you dare! This event is not suitable for kids under 10 years old. Pre-registration is required, and tickets are $10 per person. Every person needs to be registered. #3 | 13th Floor Haunted House

1940 GEORGE ST., MELROSE PARK

In most buildings, the 13th floor doesn't exist, but in this one... it is very real, but hidden. Can you take on the multiple terrifying themes? To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the haunted house with limit the number of people within the attraction, require face coverings and limit touching person items by requiring guests bring a clear bag. #4 | Museum of Terror Pop-Up

6TH DIMENSION SPACE + GALLERY, 2511 W. NORTH AVE., CHICAGO

This small 2-story exhibit is designed to get your bones chilling, body shivering, and hairs rising. This is a place where you forget about the natural world and enter the supernatural realm of horror. features real-world stories and horror depictions. It requires all guests to wear face masks. Opening Oct. 15. Tickets range from $15 to $35 and must be selected during a chosen time slot. Open weekends from 3 p.m. to midnight. See Eventbrite.




#5 | Dorm of the Dead

5700 COLLEGE ROAD LISLE

The haunted house is fully indoors, in a three-story vacant dormitory. Waiting line for entrance is outdoors but some interactive attractions are planned. No backpacks, bags or long coats allowed


#6 | Hopper’s Haunted House

11576 N IL ROUTE 2, ROCKFORD

Your fears come to life as you enter a world where life and death are meaningless. Fear like you have never felt before. Total darkness, blood curdling clowns, with a new clown room and mortuary room. Also, meet the Bloodiest Butcher in town. See website for COVID-19 guidelines.



#7 | Park After Dark Haunting

CIVIC CENTER PARK, MONTGOMERY

Reports of strange and mysterious activity have been coming out of the trails and woods of Oswego. There have been encounters with spooks, specters, and spells that have terrified and permanently changed the witnesses. Some never made it out at all. Meet up at the Civic Center (5 Ashlawn Ave, Montgomery) to tackle the terrifying trail. Bring a flashlight to help guide you during this interactive adventure. Rated PG-13 (for blood, gore, darkness, and ghouls). Upon emerging from the woods, all participants receive gear commemorating their haunted trek.


#8 | Kuipers Haunted Forest

ALL SEASON LONG • 1N318 WATSON ROAD, MAPLE PARK

Even your youngest goblins and ghouls will enjoy the playfully scary Haunted Forest as part of the fall fun at the Kuipers Family Farm. As part of a full day getting a glimpse into life on a farm complete with hayrides, apple cider, and pumpkin picking, stroll through the Haunted Forest at the Kuipers Family Farm. It will raise the hairs on your neck and a giggle in your throat. This mildly scary and fully fun Haunted Forest is suitable for kids all ages.


#9 | Nightmare at West Street

WEST MAIN COMMUNITY PARK, BATAVIA • OCT 16 & 23

#10 | The Ghost Tour of Naperville

A WALKING TOUR IN NAPERVILLE

The 2020 tour is called Voices From Beyond. Terrifying ghost-voice recordings from beyond the grave. A walking tour, with ghost hunting, through the haunted streets of historic Naperville. There is about 1/4 mile of walking. Enjoy true tales of these ghastly haunts.
