BROOKFIELD–Enjoy Chicagoland’s largest lights festival. Over two million lights illuminate the zoo, including life-sized animal sculptures and a giant Christmas tree. AURORA–A massive drive-through experience perfect for those chilly winter nights. Spanning over a mile, it features elaborate scenes, including Santa’s workshop and animated light sculptures. Now in its 17th year, it’s one of the largest free light displays in Illinois. Tune your car radio to festive music as you drive, making it the perfect outing for families or groups looking to stay cozy.


LOMBARD–The park transforms into a whimsical holiday utopia every winter. This charmingly small but stunning display features thousands of lights, decorated trees, and brilliantly lit sculptures. Unique to this event are the festive train rides and periodic visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring your camera, as this picturesque park is perfect for family photos. It’s also free, making it a budget-friendly option for holiday cheer.


BOLINGBROOK–Combining shopping with stunning lights. The highlight is its giant holiday tree, glowing with thousands of synchronized LED lights that "dance" to holiday favorites. Stroll along the outdoor mall to enjoy decorations, festive music, and holiday sculptures. Perfect for combining gift shopping with seasonal fun, it’s a convenient yet magical stop during the holidays.


NAPERVILLE–A free display featuring brilliant displays along the scenic Riverwalk. Twinkling arches, trees wrapped in colorful lights, and animated designs add charm to your evening stroll. Enhance your visit with nearby cafes and shops where you can sip hot cocoa or enjoy a holiday treat. The stunning downtown backdrop makes for picture-perfect holiday memories!


WHEATON–A unique mix of holiday magic and wildlife charm. This small zoo is decorated with thousands of lights, including animal-themed displays perfect for families with young children. Stop by the gift shop for local crafts and seasonal snacks. Best of all, entrance is free, though donations help support the zoo’s wonderful programs. The intimate setting makes it a lovely alternative to busier locations.


BATAVIA–Lights on Ekman in Batavia is a beloved neighborhood tradition that draws visitors from miles around. This stunning residential display features thousands of twinkling lights synchronized to holiday tunes. Tune your car radio to enjoy the music as the lights pulse and dance perfectly in rhythm. Known for its creative themes and community charm, this free drive-by show is run by a local family and spreads festive joy to all who come to see it. As seen on ABC's Great Christmas Light Fight seaon premiere for 2024.
